Information you provide voluntarily

We only collect information that you choose to give us directly, through one of the following:

• Newsletter signup — your first name and email address.
• Inquiry form (the "Tell Me What You Need" / "Ask About Author Support" / "Let's Talk" contact form) — your name, email address, whether you're an author, publisher, or other, what you'd like help with, an optional website or book link, and your message.
• Strategy Session intake questionnaire (sent after you book a Publishing Strategy Session) — your name, email address, an optional book or working title, where you are in your publishing journey, and details about your project, what you'd like to focus on, your current questions or challenges, and anything else you'd like reviewed or known before the session.

How this information is used

We use the information above only for the purpose you provided it: to send you the newsletter you signed up for, to read and respond to your inquiry, or to prepare for and personalize a Strategy Session you've booked. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Newsletter signups and Kit

When you sign up for the newsletter, your first name and email address are sent to Kit (ConvertKit), the email service we use to manage the mailing list and send newsletter issues. Kit stores this information on our behalf and handles the actual delivery of newsletter emails, including the unsubscribe link included in every issue. Kit's handling of this information is governed by Kit's own privacy policy.

Netlify and Netlify Forms

This website is hosted on Netlify, and all three forms on this site (newsletter, inquiry, and Strategy Session intake) submit through Netlify Forms, which stores each submission so we can read and respond to it. The newsletter form's submission to Netlify is kept as a backup record alongside its submission to Kit. Netlify's handling of this information is governed by Netlify's own privacy policy.

Inquiry and Strategy Session submissions

Messages sent through the inquiry form and answers submitted through the Strategy Session intake questionnaire are used to respond to you and to prepare for a session you've booked. These submissions are stored through Netlify Forms, as described above, and are used for responding to inquiries and providing requested services. We do not sell this information or share it for advertising purposes.

Square booking

The "Book a Strategy Session" buttons on this site link out to Square, a third-party scheduling and payments platform, to book and pay for your session. Any scheduling, payment, or account details you provide during that process are handled directly by Square — this website does not collect, see, or store your payment information. Square's handling of that information is governed by Square's own privacy policy.

Etsy purchases

The "Get the Template" buttons in the Resources section link to listings in our Etsy shop. Purchases and checkout are processed through Etsy rather than through this website. Etsy may provide us with information associated with an order as necessary to manage or fulfill that transaction. Payment processing and Etsy account information are handled by Etsy in accordance with Etsy's own privacy practices.

Cookies and tracking

This website does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies, and it does not use browser storage to track visitors. We don't currently have a way to measure site traffic or visitor behavior.

Fonts

This website loads its typefaces (Newsreader and Public Sans) from Google Fonts. Loading these fonts causes your browser to make a request to Google's servers, the way loading any web font does — this is a font-delivery request, not an analytics or advertising service, and we do not use it to track visitors. Google's handling of these requests is governed by Google's own privacy practices.

Service providers and third parties

The only outside services involved in operating this website and its forms are:

• Netlify — website hosting and form handling.
• Kit (ConvertKit) — newsletter delivery and list management.
• Square — Strategy Session booking and payment.
• Etsy — digital product purchases.
• Google Fonts — delivery of the website's typefaces.

Data retention

We retain inquiry messages, Strategy Session intake responses, and the Netlify Forms backup copy of newsletter signups for as long as reasonably needed to respond to you, prepare for a booked session, or keep a record of correspondence, and we may delete older submissions periodically. Newsletter subscriber information is retained by Kit for as long as you remain subscribed, or until you unsubscribe or ask to be removed.

Your choices and unsubscribe rights

Every newsletter email includes an unsubscribe link, provided by Kit, that removes you from the mailing list. If you'd like us to delete or stop retaining an inquiry or Strategy Session intake submission, email jillianvillaviray@outlook.com and we'll take care of it.

Children's privacy

This website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at jillianvillaviray@outlook.com and we will remove it.

External links

This site links to third-party services and platforms, including Square, Etsy, and our social profiles on TikTok, Instagram, and LinkedIn. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content or privacy practices. Please review their own policies before providing information there.

Security

We take reasonable care in how form submissions and this website are handled, but no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure. We can't guarantee the absolute security of information sent to us online.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
