Description of services

The Author Imprint Studio offers publishing strategy consultation and author support services, Strategy Sessions (booked and paid through Square), digital templates and resources for authors (sold through our Etsy shop), and an email newsletter. Some services are provided directly by The Author Imprint Studio; others involve the third-party platforms described below.

Digital products (Etsy)

Templates and other digital products offered in the Resources section are sold through our Etsy shop. Purchases and checkout for these products are processed through Etsy, not through this website.

License. When you purchase a template, you receive a non-transferable license to use it for your own individual author or business purposes, including in connection with your own commercial author activities. Purchasing a template does not transfer ownership of the underlying template or any associated intellectual property to you. You may not resell, redistribute, share, sublicense, reproduce for others, repackage, or offer the template — in whole or in part, modified or unmodified — as your own product. This license is intended for the individual purchaser.

Refunds and transaction terms. Refunds, cancellations, and other transaction terms for products purchased through Etsy are governed by the policies displayed on the applicable Etsy listing or shop, and by Etsy's own applicable terms, at the time of purchase. If The Author Imprint Studio begins selling digital products directly through this website in the future, separate terms will apply to those direct sales.

Strategy Sessions (Square)

Strategy Sessions are booked and paid for through Square. Full payment is required at the time of booking. Our current cancellation and rescheduling policy requires at least two business days' notice. The specific booking, payment, cancellation, rescheduling, and refund terms presented through Square at the time of booking govern your Strategy Session.

No guaranteed outcomes

Services provide publishing strategy and support. Results vary, and no specific publishing, representation, sales, or marketing outcomes are guaranteed.

Not professional advice

The Author Imprint Studio provides publishing, marketing, author-platform, and related educational and strategic guidance. This guidance does not constitute legal, financial, tax, literary-agent, or other regulated professional advice. You should consult the appropriate qualified professional when you need advice in one of these areas.

Intellectual property

Except for the templates described above (which are licensed under the terms in that section) and any content you submit to us, the content on this Site — including its text, graphics, and design — belongs to The Author Imprint Studio and may not be copied or reused without permission.

Acceptable use

You agree to use this Site for lawful purposes, and not to interfere with its normal operation, attempt to gain unauthorized access to it, or misuse its forms, including by submitting false or malicious information.

Age requirements

This Site's publicly available informational content may be accessed by visitors of any age. However, to independently purchase a digital product or book a paid Strategy Session, you must be at least 18 years old, or have the involvement and authorization of a parent or legal guardian where appropriate.

Amazon Publishing disclaimer

References to Jillian Villaviray's prior experience at Amazon Publishing describe her former professional background only. The Author Imprint Studio is independently owned and operated, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon or Amazon Publishing. This prior employment does not create any current relationship, endorsement, access, influence, or special consideration with Amazon or Amazon Publishing.

Third-party services

This Site uses and links to third-party services, including Netlify (hosting and form handling), Kit/ConvertKit (newsletter delivery), Square (Strategy Session booking and payment), and Etsy (digital product sales). Each of these services operates under its own terms and policies, which govern your use of them. The Author Imprint Studio is not responsible for the availability, content, or practices of these third-party services.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, The Author Imprint Studio is not liable for indirect or consequential damages arising from your use of this Site. Nothing in these Terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Right to refuse service

The Author Imprint Studio reserves the right to decline or discontinue services where reasonably necessary, including in cases of inappropriate conduct, misuse of services, conflicts of interest, nonpayment, or requests outside the scope of services offered, subject to applicable law and any applicable refund or booking terms.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
